Their vision: travellers answer a curated set of questions about their budget, preferences, travel style, and appetite for adventure and the platform handles everything else. Destination unknown. It was a genuinely original idea. But it came with genuinely hard problems. How do you build an AI that doesn’t just match preferences, but accounts for what’s actually happening in the world, flight disruptions, festival seasons, political advisories, monsoon patterns, local events? How do you keep a traveller engaged and informed across weeks of anticipation without giving away the destination? How do you automate a deeply personal experience without making it feel robotic?

The Solution
A Full-Stack AI Travel Platform Built for the Real World
Most travel platforms are built assuming the world is stable, but Blind Fold Trips needed to work precisely because the world isn’t. DraconX designed and built a platform from the ground up with real-time intelligence, adaptive itinerary generation, and automated customer communication at its core. The engagement ran across two parallel tracks from day one: product experience design and platform engineering. Rather than sequencing them, DraconX ran them simultaneously, compressing a typically eight-month build into 180 days without sacrificing depth. At the heart of the platform is DraconX’s AI itinerary engine, which generates trip plans informed not only by user preferences but also by what is actually happening in the world at the moment of booking. Before finalising any destination recommendation, the engine queries live data layers covering flight availability and pricing, weather forecasts and seasonal patterns, active travel advisories and safety indexes, major local events and festivals, and public sentiment signals from travel communities. A destination that scores well on user preferences but is currently experiencing disruption, such as a monsoon, a public holiday that inflates prices, or a travel advisory is automatically deprioritized in favour of a better-matched alternative. The result is itineraries that aren’t just personalized but situationally intelligent, giving travellers trips that feel designed for the present moment rather than generated from a static template. Because the engine re-evaluates in real time, a recommendation made on a Tuesday can account for events that were not known on Monday. The platform also includes the Mystery Travel Questionnaire, designed as a conversational and visually immersive intake experience rather than a traditional form, capturing travel style, budget range, trip duration, dietary requirements, adventure appetite, climate preferences, and accessibility needs in a quiz-like format. This questionnaire produces a rich traveller profile used by the AI engine as the primary filter for destination scoring, with responses dynamically weighted so that travellers prioritizing budget receive a different scoring model than those prioritizing experience quality, ensuring recommendations reflect what each traveller truly values. In addition, DraconX built an automated multi-channel communication layer that operates throughout the entire customer journey from booking to return. Once a trip is confirmed, the platform triggers a carefully sequenced series of communications across WhatsApp, email, and SMS, each timed to the specific details of that customer’s trip. This includes booking confirmation with a teaser message to build anticipation without revealing the destination, preparation reminders tailored to the destination’s climate and culture without naming it, a pre-departure briefing delivered 48 hours before travel with relevant packing tips, the destination reveal delivered as a personalized digital reveal card at the agreed time, and post-trip follow-ups including feedback requests, loyalty rewards, and personalized prompts to book again. Every message is dynamically generated based on the traveller’s profile, the specific trip, and the timing relative to departure rather than pulled from a generic template library, allowing the platform to manage thousands of individual communication journeys simultaneously while making each traveller’s experience feel personal and purposeful.

Blind Fold Trips launched with a fully operational platform — every core system live, tested, and generating real revenue from the first week. The AI itinerary engine, the questionnaire, the booking and payment flow, the communication automation, and the Blind Fold Trips Pack were all live and functional on day one.
Bookings tripled month on month in the first quarter — 50 in Month 1, 100 in Month 2, 150 in Month 3 — generating ₹25.5 lakh in cumulative revenue and confirming that the market for curated mystery travel experiences was not just real, but hungry. The automated communication system proved its value almost immediately. The BFT team — which remained lean throughout and managed hundreds of active customer journeys simultaneously without the communication quality degrading. Travellers reported feeling personally cared for throughout the pre-trip period, unaware that the messages they were receiving were platform generated. That invisibility is the highest compliment an automation system can receive.
Repeat booking rates significantly exceeded industry benchmarks for first-time travel platform users. Travellers who experienced the mystery travel format were impressed and sharing their reveal moments on social media, referring friends, and returning to book again.
